Eureka 431BX Optima Lightweight Upright Vacuum

I must admit I was somewhat skeptical of this machine. My wife and I moved to a new house with several blankets, and after 16 years, had to retire our old vacuum cleaner. We looked at the Dyson and a few other full-size vacuum cleaner. The problem is that they all weighed a ton. (Well, not really a ton ... but a lot.) Now that we have to lug the vacuum up and down stairs all the time, we wanted something lighter weight. So we saw it ... a reference to the Eureka Optima in an edition of Oprah magazine while visiting my sister and her family on vacation. We went to the local Best Buy and check it out. After absorbing a lot of junk on the floor at Best Buy in Nyack, NY, we took the step. Vacuum is a breeze to assemble. It is still pretty sweet. And it has a good week. The absence of a HEPA filter may be an inconvenience for some, but we went from an old vacuum bags with this bagless ... so it's a huge improvement for us even without the HEPA filter. Optima is a bit harder to drive than our old vac, especially on thick carpet. But our room is not very big, so we look at it as an opportunity for some exercise. The incredible weight (or lack thereof) of this machine, together with the low price more than offsets the small amount of effort required to run it. It is easy to empty as well. And telescoping handle is great! Set the lever all the way down and you can save this VAC in almost any wardrobe. We have also saved it in a large cupboard. I would recommend this vacuum to anyone. Or you can spend six or seven or eight times the money on a Dyson. The choice is yours!

We had bought a top of the line bag with all the power you could want, and did a fantastic job. This mini-powerhouse "cleaning out the shed." My wife always complained about the importance of full size vacuum cleaners, this one is about half the weight. It is absoluetly amazing how well it has cleaned our old carpets. With two Labrador retrievers who have tha run in the house this little Vac to the test. After a workout, I can roll over our living room floor in a white t-shirt, and there's not a hair of the puppies available. Do your self a favor and get one of those little vacuum cleaner, who believe it is one of the big boys. It is amazing that the price is so low on such a large machine.
